What: Boy Scout Science and Engineering Merit Badge event

MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (04/08/2013) –- University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering student groups will help about 125 Boy Scouts earn merit badges in science and engineering at a special day-long event 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at the University of Minnesota, Smith Hall, 207 Pleasant St. S.E., Minneapolis. The event is full and no more registrations are being accepted for this year.
The Boy Scouts will have opportunities to earn merit badges in chemistry, composite materials, energy, engineering and nuclear science. The day will include demonstrations as well as hands-on activities with current science and engineering university students. The Boy Scouts will also have an opportunity to meet a professor and ask questions about research and college life.
University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering student groups involved include Alpha Chi Sigma (chemistry co-ed fraternity), Tau Beta Pi (engineering honor society), Theta Tau (engineering co-ed fraternity), Material Advantage (materials science and engineering student group), Active Energy Club (energy conservation student group), Society of Physics Students (physics student group), and the Nikola Tesla Patent Producers (an inventors student group).
