College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota
College of Science and Engineering

Dual degrees

Combine the richness of a traditional liberal arts education with technological skills. Through the dual-degree program, you can earn a Bachelor of Arts from a participating college or university and a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Another option is completing an undergraduate degree in science at another college or university, then applying for a master’s program in engineering at the University of Minnesota.

Start at a participating college or university

  • Complete your liberal-education requirements.
  • Take one English composition course.
  • Take the required pre-engineering courses in math and science. Be sure to choose the courses that have been identified as equivalent to the courses at CSE; your academic advisor will know.

Finish bachelor degree at CSE

  • When it comes time to transfer, use a special application available from your pre-engineering academic advisor. You do not use the usual transfer application process at the University.
  • Selection is based on the successful completion of appropriate courses and the student’s technical grade point average (calculated from grades in calculus, chemistry, computer science, calculus-based physics, and calculus-based statistics).
