Welcome to the CSE Mentor Program!

Each fall, the CSE Mentor Program matches more than 250 sophomore, junior and senior students with industry professionals who provide valuable career information, insights, and strategies. Our program is one of the largest mentor programs at the University of Minnesota, and this year we are expanding further by including the Actuary Mentor Program as part of the CSE Mentor Program.

Student registration for the CSE Mentor Program is not yet open for the 2014-15 academic year. Please contact Ann Terry at asterry@umn.edu for more information.

Get career advice from an experienced professional

As a student in the CSE Mentor Program, you will set the groundwork for a lasting professional network and gain access to an insider’s perspective on navigating your career path and preparing for the transition from college life to the workplace. The Mentor Program is a great networking opportunity that can help you make academic and career decisions.

  • As a student in the CSE Mentor Program, you take the lead in the relationship and identify your goals for the career exploration.
  • Your mentor will provide career information and strategies.
  • You may also tour a company or work site, attend professional meetings, and get feedback on your resume.

How often do we meet?
To stay in the program, you must have contact with your mentor at least twice a month from October to April. There is an orientation in the fall and a reception in the spring.

Where do we meet?
You may get together on campus, at the mentor’s workplace, or by email and phone.

Who are the mentors?
CSE alumni and friends of the college volunteer to be mentors. The Mentor Program is organized and sponsored by Alumni Relations at the College of Science and Engineering. College of Liberal Arts actuarial science students are welcome to participate.
