Who can attend CSE College Advising drop-ins?
CSE Student Services offers drop-in advising support to the following students:
- All CSE pre-major students
- Upper-division students admitted to the following majors:
- Astrophysics
- Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Chemistry
- Civil Engineering
- Earth Sciences
- Environmental Engineering
- Environmental Geosciences
- Geoengineering
- Materials Sciences and Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Physics
Upper-division students admitted to the following majors receive all advising services from their department, including just-in-time advising. Contact your department for more information:

When are academic advising drop-ins offered?
Spring 2026 drop-ins for academic advising will be offered Monday-Friday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. in-person in 105 Lind Hall. Mondays will also offer drop-ins virtually on Zoom from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Drop-in advising will start on the first day of class, January 20th, and end on Wednesday May 13th. There will be no drop in advising on March 5th. Drop-in advising will be held virtually only with no in person hours during spring break from March 9th until March 13th.
Start of the semester extended drop-in hours: Tuesday January 20th from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
What can I accomplish during academic advising drop-ins?
Drop-ins are where you can have five to ten minute meetings with an on-duty CSE college academic advisor to discuss topics including, but not limited to:
- Reviewing APAS reports
- Course sequencing and prerequisites
- Changes to registration plans
- Liberal education requirements
- Course withdrawals and using your one time only late withdrawal
- Academic policies and petition processes
- Connecting with campus resources
- Time-sensitive questions
These topics cannot be addressed during drop-ins:
- Removal of advising registration holds
- Approval of ROTC academic planning forms (email this to your assigned advisor)
- Sponsored student academic plan approval forms or letters (email this to your assigned advisor)
- Selection of upper-division technical electives and upper division course planning

How can I access academic advising drop-ins?
You can find more information about academic advising drop-ins on our webpage, including the Zoom link for joining remote drop-in advising on Mondays. For in person advising Mondays-Fridays, students should check-in at the front desk in 105 Lind Hall. Students should check-in by 3:45 p.m. at the latest in order to meet with an academic advisor that day.
Can I get my OA/DS/any other hold removed during drop-in advising?
No, lower division students must meet with their assigned college advisor for a required registration meeting to have their OA hold removed. Upper division students must meet with their departmental advisor to have their DS hold removed. For any other hold, please review the type of hold in MyU and follow the included instructions on how to have it removed.
