Undergraduates: Academic Planning

Welcome! If you would like to talk with us about the AEM program, please feel free to stop by the office at 107 Akerman Hall or contact Professor Yohannes Ketema, the Director of Undergraduate Studies, at aem-dugs@umn.edu.

You can find information about year-specific course planning and more in the undergraduate handbook.

Academic Contacts

Freshmen are assigned an advisor through the College of Science and Engineering (CSE). This advisor will work with you until you are accepted to the AEM program. CSE Advisors are available to assist students with course selection and academic support.

After being accepted to the AEM program, you’ll be assigned a department advisor and receive an email with his or her contact information.

One-Year Plans

As an AEM student, you are required to submit a one-year plan on the SRS every spring. This plan will list the courses that you will be taking in the following academic year. Once your AEM faculty advisor approves this plan, you will be able to register for classes. Consult the course planning guides in the Undergraduate Handbook in filling out your one-year plan.

CSE Advisors are also available to assist you with issues and questions about University requirements beyond the AEM program and career planning.

Regularly Check your UMN Email
