Brittany Hartwell joins the faculty

February 13, 2020—Dr. Brittany Hartwell will start her appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota as tenure-track Assistant Professor in 2020-2021. She will continue her research in immunoengineering to develop targeted therapeutic molecules that direct the immune response.

Dr. Hartwell is conducting her postdoctoral work in the laboratory of Prof. Darrell Irvine at MIT, where she is developing targeted molecular vaccines that promote mucosal immunity against HIV.

She received her PhD in Bioengineering at the University of Kansas in the laboratory of Prof. Cory Berkland. There, she worked on developing an antigen-specific tolerogenic immunotherapy for multiple sclerosis using multivalent peptide-polymer conjugates.
