Mathew Rynes receives Distinguished MS Thesis Award

November 2, 2018 — Mathew Rynes has received the University's Distinguished Master's Thesis Award in the math/physics/engineering division.

His thesis, "Principles of Computer Numerical Controlled Machining Applied to Small Research Animal Microsurgical Procedures" (advised by Suhasa Kodandaramaiah), will now advance to the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) competition. Matt's thesis was selected for its innovation and significant contributions to the field of neural engineering.

Matt graduated with a BS in Neuroscience from the University of Minnesota in Spring 2013. He started our Master's program in Fall 2015, joined Professor Kodandaramaiah's lab in February 2017, and graduated that December. He was admitted to our PhD program this Fall and is continuing his doctoral work with Professor Kodandaramaiah.
