PhD student Huzefa Husain receives President’s Student Leadership and Service Award

April 10, 2023 — BME PhD student Huzefa Husain is among the 2023 recipients of the President’s Student Leadership and Service Award announced by President Joan T.A. Gabel.

The award recognizes student leaders at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities who exhibit exceptional leadership and service to the University of Minnesota and the surrounding community.

Huzefa is advised by Professors Brenda Ogle and Ferenc Tóth (Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences). He is part of Prof. Ogle’s Systems Regeneration Lab, a Creating Inclusive Cohorts (CIC) fellow, and a current BME graduate student coordinator. The focus of his research is how to better leverage the extracellular matrix to enhance regeneration of damaged articular cartilage using pluripotent stem cells.
