My research interests are in the area of applied mathematics and computational mechanics, with special emphasis on problems involving geomaterials and composite materials. The projects I work on include development of numerical algorithms simulating (a) two- and three-dimensional fracture propagation in nonhomogeneous media and (b) micro- and macroscopic behavior of materials with microstructure. The main applications are in mining, hydraulic fracturing, and material design.
