Baiwen Kong Awarded DSI-MnDRIVE Graduate Assistantship

Baiwen Kong, a fourth-year PhD candidate co-advised by Profs. Prodromos Daoutidis and Qi Zhang, has been awarded the DSI-MnDRIVE Graduate Assistantship by UMN’s Research Computing and Data Science Initiative.

This graduate assistantship program supports UMN PhD candidates pursuing research at the intersection of data science and any of the MnDRIVE focus areas. In his research, Baiwen addresses emerging engineering problems relevant to the sustainability of energy, agriculture and environment by using advanced data-driven modeling and optimization methods. He was selected based on his academic/research achievements and his research proposal titled “Harnessing the Potential of Green Ammonia for Energy Storage in Microgrids: System Design Under Uncertainty via Bayesian Optimization.” Through this award, Baiwen will receive financial support for the equivalent of two semesters and one summer.

Congratulations Baiwen!
