Ben Magruder Wins Lodge-Amelar Fellowship
Ben Magruder, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (CEMS) at the University of Minnesota, has been awarded the Lodge-Amelar Fellowship! This award recognizes graduate students in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science and Engineering who have combined excellence in interdisciplinary research with effective collaborative and community building skills.
Originally from Spokane, WA, Ben earned his B.S. in chemical engineering at the University of Washington in 2020 before joining the CEMS. Benh is a part of Dr. Kevin Dorfman's research group, where he studies block polymer self-assembly using self-consistent field theory. Specifically, as part of the UMN Materials Research Science and Engineering Center, he has worked collaboratively with researchers across many of the other groups in the center to better understand the formation of self-assembled network phases under thin-film confinement. Ben and his advisor also co-authored a research primer about self-consistent field theory for ACS In Focus.
Congratulations Ben Magrunder!
