Bharat Jalan Honored with George W. Taylor Award for Distinguished Research

CEMS congratulates Professor Bharat Jalan on receiving the George W. Taylor Award for Distinguished Research. This prestigious University of Minnesota award recognizes faculty members who have shown exceptional research accomplishments and scholarly excellence.
Professor Jalan's research focuses on atomic-layer-controlled growth of complex oxide thin films and heterostructures using a novel hybrid molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) technique. His group investigates perovskite and rutile-based quantum materials, particularly titanates, ruthenates, iridates and stannates, to understand and control the coupling between lattice, orbital, charge, and spin, enabling insights into phenomena such as superconductivity, (alter) magnetism, electronic structure and electronic phase transitions. The work combines synthesis, advanced characterization, and global collaboration to push the boundaries of materials science, materials physics and device applications.
Please join us in celebrating Professor Jalan’s outstanding contributions to research and his well-deserved recognition with the George W. Taylor Award!
