Chris Bartel Featured in Materials Horizons Emerging Investigators Collection

CEMS Assistant Professor Chris Bartel has been featured in the Materials Horizons Emerging Investigators collection, which highlights early-career scientists identified as having the potential to shape the future of materials science.

Bartel leads the Design of Materials on Computers Lab at the University of Minnesota, which leverages first-principles calculations, thermodynamic modeling, solid-state chemistry, and machine learning to accelerate the design of solid-state materials for energy-related applications.

Read Chris Bartel’s interview for the Emerging Investigator Series at the collection’s website. He was chosen for this collection in conjunction with a recent publication from his group, “Establishing baselines for generative discovery of inorganic crystals,” which can also be accessed online in Materials Horizons. Journal access is required for both links.
