Matt Neurock Honored with Red Cedar Circle Distinguished Alumni Award

MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (05/06/2026) — Congratulations to CEMS Professor Matthew Neurock on receiving the Red Cedar Circle Distinguished Chemical Engineering and Material Science Alumni Award from his alma mater, Michigan State University (MSU).

Professor Neurock earned his BS in Chemical Engineering from MSU in 1986. The Red Cedar Circle Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes his distinguished contributions to the field of Chemical Engineering and outstanding service.

Professor Neurock’s research group has made important advances in the development of ab initio and molecular simulations and their applications in understanding and controlling catalytic and electrocatalytic systems. They have used detailed quantum chemical and molecular simulations to follow dynamic and kinetics transformations over and within different catalytic materials to establish the mechanisms, kinetics, along with the catalytic sites and complex reaction environments that control the molecular transformation in thermal and electro-catalytic conversions for a wide range of reaction systems for chemical, pharmaceutical, energy and materials processes.

Congratulations, Professor Neurock! Learn more about his work at his research group’s website.
