Two CEMS undergraduates recognized with university leadership awards

MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (05/15/2026) — Congratulations to CEMS undergraduate students Courtney Archibald (BMatSE, 2026) and Aquarina Hoanca (BChE, 2026) on earning University of Minnesota student leadership awards. Archibald received the President’s Student Leadership & Service Award, and Hoanca completed the Tom Burnett Leadership Program.

The President’s Student Leadership & Service Award (PSLSA) recognizes outstanding student leaders at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities for their exceptional leadership and service to the University and the broader community. Archibald was nominated for her leadership of the Material Advantage student group in CEMS.

Hoanca was recognized after completing the Tom Burnett Leadership Program, a selective, semester-long program that honors the life of UMN alumnus Tom Burnett. Burnett was a passenger on United Flight 93 on September 11, 2001, and is remembered for his role, alongside fellow passengers, in preventing the plane from reaching its intended target. The program brings together a small cohort of students each spring for advanced leadership development, with a focus on identifying and strengthening leadership skills. Participants are nominated and selected through an interview process.

Congratulations to Courtney Archibald and Aquarina Hoanca on these outstanding accomplishments.
