Linh Tran awarded 2025 Stanley Shi-Tung King Fellowship

MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (6/26/2025) – Department of Chemistry PhD student Linh Tran has been awarded the 2025 Stanley Shi-Tung King Fellowship. The award, given by the department annually, recognizes Tran’s outstanding academic and research excellence.
Before she arrived at the University of Minnesota in 2020, Tran completed her undergraduate studies in chemistry at Vietnam National University. At UMN, she is a member of the Haskell-Luevano group, an interdisciplinary laboratory in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry that blends organic chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry, and pharmacology through their research. Tran’s research is particularly focused on peptide chemistry and cell-based assay design. “I use these frameworks to investigate the function of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) in metabolic diseases, including obesity,” she says.
In addition to her work in the lab, Tran has also served the chemistry community as a volunteer for the dynamic Energy and U outreach program. As she looks towards the future, Tran shares “I’m currently working on my research dissertation. I will soon defend my PhD thesis, aiming to become a scientist who contributes to the development of transformative therapies that improve patients' lives and advance global health.”
Congratulations, Linh!
