Professor Marc Hillmyer elected to American Academy of Arts and Sciences
MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (04/24/2026) – The American Academy of Arts and Sciences has elected University of Minnesota Department of Chemistry Professor Marc Hillmyer as a member. The honor recognizes his significant contributions to research and leadership in the field of chemistry and beyond.
Distinguished University Teaching Professor and McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair Marc Hillmyer has been a member of the Department of Chemistry faculty since 1997. He is best known for his work at the intersection of sustainability and polymer science and has made numerous impactful contributions to the development of new biobased, recyclable and biodegradable plastics, elastomers and thermosets. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, he is currently the editor-in-chief of Macromolecules and the director of the Center for Sustainable Polymers at the University of Minnesota.
College of Science and Engineering Dean Andrew G. Alleyne and University of Minnesota Medical School Regents Professor Bruce Blazar were also elected.
