Chemistry Climate, Community & Culture
The Department of Chemistry has unique features that set it apart and help its students, faculty, and staff thrive and succeed. The department fosters a diverse community and works hard to create an environment where involvement, collaboration, caring, and safety are the norm.
ChemNews, the Department of Chemistry’s printed newsletter, which is published annually, is available as a flip book or a downloadable pdf. Read about "a year like no other . . . with amazing accomplishments." Content includes a wonderful message from Department Head David Blank, stories on meeting the challenges of COVID, work of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, creation of the Jeannette Brown Lectureship, funding for centers that involve many researchers from the Department of Chemistry, and stories about faculty, students, staff, and alumni. There are also features on the department’s three staff members who are retiring with a combined 77 years of service to the department and the university—Joseph Franek, Eileen Harvala, and Victor Munsch.
