Institute of Technology research receives funding from defense bill

Institute of Technology research on tiny “Scout” robots used to save lives on the battlefield and testing of high-speed aircraft designs are slated to receive funding as part of the 2007 Department of Defense Appropriations bill recently approved by the U.S. House and Senate.

The Institute of Technology’s robotics research program, led by Professor Nikolaos Papanikolopoulous (computer science and engineering) received $1.95 million. The bill also allocates $2 million to the Department of Aerospace and Engineering’s National Hypersonics Research Center led by Distinguished McKnight University Professor Graham Candler.
