U student receives Congressional Award Gold Medal for volunteer work
Institute of Technology junior Jaymes Grossman will receive the Congressional Award Gold Medal at a presentation in Washington, D.C., June 21. The medal is the highest honor bestowed upon young people by the U.S. Congress.
Grossman, 18, is pursuing a double major in electrical engineering and computer engineering. His sister, Jansina, 16, has also won the award, which fosters leadership and community involvement in people ages 14 to 23.
In order to earn the Congressional Award Gold Medal, each individual must complete a minimum of 400 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal development activities, 200 hours of physical fitness, and four consecutive days and nights of an exploration or expedition.
