Four CSE grad programs ranked in Top 10 among publics

MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (04/07/2026) — All graduate programs in the University of Minnesota Twin Cities College of Science and Engineering continue to rank in the Top 20 among public universities nationwide in new U.S. News and World Report rankings released today.

Four of CSE graduate programs ranked in the Top 10 among public universities — chemical engineering (#3), mathematics (#5), biomedical engineering (#9), and environmental engineering (#9).

These rankings come on the heels of last fall’s undergraduate U.S. News and World Report rankings in which the University of Minnesota overall engineering program ranked in the Top 15 among publics.

"I am extremely proud of the consistent excellence across all programs in the College of Science and Engineering," said Andrew Alleyne, dean of the University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering. "This recognition reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and reaffirms our commitment to serving Minnesota, the nation, and the world."
