CSE students receive awards of excellence at SWE National Conference
UMN-SWE recognized for outstanding actions in K-12 outreach, resource promotion, and public policy
MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (11/02/2017) — Women from the University of Minnesota chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) accepted five awards at the 2017 SWE National Conference. The 25 women from the UMN chapter joined more than 14,000 women engineers at the national conference and represented nearly 300 SWE members from the UMN chapter.
President Kelsey Harper, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering, received the Outstanding Collegiate Member award honoring her leadership and dedication to community and K-12 outreach.
The UMN chapter also received the SWE Mission Award Gold-Collegiate, the overall award for outstanding section and highest level of recognition. They also accepted three other Mission awards recognizing SWE groups that embody SWE core values and demonstrate continuous improvement and growth as they work to achieve the SWE's strategic goals.
The Mission Best Practice awards are for outstanding actions or activities in specific areas. SWE UMN received the following awards:
- SWE Mission Best Practice-Outreach for K-12 and SWEekend
- SWE Mission Best Practice-SWE Resource Promotion
- SWE Mission Best Practice-Public Policy
