Where: Smith Hall, University of Minnesota, 207 Pleasant St., S.E., Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (03/31/2016) –-University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering students will help about 130 Boy Scouts earn merit badges in science and engineering at a special day-long event on Saturday, April 2 at the University of Minnesota, Smith Hall, 207 Pleasant St. S.E., Minneapolis. The event is full and no more registrations are being accepted for this year.

The Boy Scouts will have opportunities to earn merit badges in chemistry, composite materials, electricity, energy, fingerprinting, nuclear science, and public speaking. The day will include demonstrations as well as hands-on activities with current science and engineering university students.

Several University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering student groups are involved in the event including Alpha Chi Sigma (chemistry co-ed fraternity), American Indian Science & Engineering Society, Active Energy Club, Society of Physics Students, Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, and Theta Tau (engineering co-ed fraternity).
