Inter-college transfer information sessions and drop-in advising

In-person advising with a College of Science and Engineering (CSE)  advisor is available for students currently or previously enrolled in a degree-seeking program at the University of Minnesota (UMN) Twin Cities or Rochester campuses. Students must complete either the in-person information session or the online Canvas course before using CSE drop-in advising.

Each CSE major is a unique degree program with its own admission requirements. Students should carefully review the specific details of each program they are interested in before attending an information session or starting the online Canvas course. Visit the transfer from within the UMN Twin Cities or Rochester campuses to CSE webpage to find more information about your program of interest.

For immediate answers to questions about transferring from within the UMN Twin Cities or Rochester campuses, students can email [email protected]. Be sure to include the programs of interest and any specific details related to your questions.

Information Sessions

This is a one-time, in-person, 60-minute session led by CSE academic advisors. During the session, students will learn about our programs, admission requirements, the application process, and academic planning. CSE academic advisors will also help students understand planning tools and the sequencing of required courses. At the end of the information session, students will be encouraged to develop a registration plan for their upcoming terms, with CSE advisors available to answer individual course planning questions.

Session capacity is limited, so early registration is recommended. Online registration is available up to 24 hours before the session starts, if space is available. Please note that failing to attend multiple transfer info sessions without prior notice may result in restrictions on your access to online scheduling and CSE services. If you have questions about signing up for info sessions, contact CSE Student Services at [email protected], 612-624-2890, or visit 105 Lind Hall.

Canvas Course

Students planning to transfer into CSE must attend an in-person information session hosted by CSE academic advisors before accessing CSE drop-in advising.

If attending an in-person session is not possible, students may request to complete a one-time online Canvas course that provides the same information. The course includes video modules followed by comprehension checks. Students must complete each module in order and score 100% on each comprehension check to finish the course.

Once course completion is recorded— which may take up to 24 hours—students will gain access to in-person drop-in advising in 105 Lind Hall.

To request access to the Canvas course, complete the Google Form linked below. A member of CSE Student Services will review your request and current semester schedule and follow up within three to five business days.
