COVID-19 updates for the CSE community

In these rapidly-changing times, we're here for you!

Top 5 things you need to know - updated 3/11/22

Proof of vaccination: Due to a federal contract mandate, the University is requiring all faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate student workers, adjuncts, professionals in training, and postdoctoral associates systemwide to submit proof of vaccination. A process for requesting a medical or religious exemption is available (with testing requirements for those that qualify for an exemption). The University also asks that all students, staff, and faculty get a booster shot as soon as they are eligible and will ask that they submit proof of their booster shots soon. The U of M “Get the Vax website” can help answer any questions you or your family may have about the vaccines.

Updated isolation and quarantine guidance: Based on advice of public health authorities and the University’s medical and public health experts, the University of Minnesota is updating its isolation and quarantine guidance. People with a positive COVID-19 test (regardless of vaccination status) should isolate for five days if they have no symptoms or their symptoms are resolving (including without fever for 24 hours). Quarantine guidelines depend on your vaccination status. For more information, read President Gabel's Jan. 12 message regarding the updated guidelines.

Mask requirement on campus: Starting March 21, the University of Minnesota is lifting some indoor mask requirements. Masks will still be required in certain settings, such as in classrooms and labs and on public transit. Learn more by reading President Gabel's March 11 message or visiting the face coverings information webpage. For students who need masks, the University Health and Safety Mask Support Program is providing high quality masks at several locations on campus.

Building access: The University is working to balance public access to campus with greater security and will offer limited public hours in certain buildings, while allowing some buildings to require a U Card to enter. All faculty, staff and students should carry their U Card at all times when on campus, to ensure access. If you need a U Card, avoid the lines, upload your photo, and pick up your card early, if possible.

Flexible staff schedules: The University of Minnesota issued Work. With Flexibility. guidance that governs flexible work arrangements. The college also offers guidance on flexible work arrangements in CSE that reinforces key aspects of the University’s approach and includes additional guidance at the college level.
