CoreBiome takes home OVPR’s Innovation Award

Professor Dan Knights received the Committee’s Choice award from the Office of the Vice President for Research’s Innovation Award series for his start-up company CoreBiome.

Knights was joined by his CoreBiome colleagues and fellow U of M innovators Professors Daryl Gohl and Kenneth Beckman (U of M Genomics Center).  The team was selected for their groundbreaking research into the human microbiome and their entrepreneurial drive to bring this science to industry.

Knights, Gohl, and Beckman launched CoreBiome as a University startup in 2017. The company analyzes communities of microbes for human health, agricultural and environmental applications. With a mission to accelerate the entire microbiome industry toward breakthrough discoveries, CoreBiome creates high-resolution metagenomics profiles with speed, reproducibility and accuracy. The startup was acquired by OraSure Technologies Inc. in 2019.

Please join us in congratulating Professor Knights on this achievement and for the continued success of CoreBiome.
