Now Hiring: Student Educational Technology Developer

Come work with a team developing a free and open data-driven educational technology platform.  By providing an open database of user interactions with educational content, this platform, Doenet (the Distributed Open Education Network), will empower students and instructors to discover the most effective content.  Through its suite of intuitive tools, Doenet will facilitate the authoring and hosting of richly interactive educational activities.  The goal of the Doenet project is to reduce barriers to the development, access, and evaluation of open educational content.

The successful candidate will gain practical experience using modern javascript tools such as node.js and reactJS as well as gaining deeper knowledge of HTML and CSS.

Job Duties

  • Assist with the development of a custom web platform. Responsibilities will include:
    • Participate in design discussions and provide suggestions/feedback on application design
    • Enhance existing application by writing code to implement new product features
    • Develop and implement software tests to improve test coverage
  • Research web and application development technologies as directed
  • Document new features

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a current undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota registered for at least 6 credits for the Fall semester.
    • Must meet the minimum class credits for student employment

  • Working towards a degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working towards a degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering or related fields.
  • Familiar with JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Ability to organize and complete assignments on time
  • Ability to express oneself in writing
