Impact

  • Keller Hall servers and workstations, including many on the first floor of Keller Hall

Outage Description

At 7:45 AM, CSE-IT discovered that several workstations and servers on the first floor of Keller Hall appeared to have lost power. This includes the data center located on the first floor. Symptoms include: being unable to log into affected systems and the affected systems being unreachable over the network.

  • 01/28/2022, 08:33 a.m. At 7:45 AM, CSE-IT discovered that several workstations and servers on the first floor of Keller Hall appeared to have lost power. This includes the data center located on the first floor. Symptoms include: being unable to log into affected systems and the affected systems being unreachable over the network. We are still investigating the cause(s) of this issue and we will update this notice once service is restored.
  • 01/28/2022, 08:39 a.m. At 8:34 AM, power was restored to affected machines in Keller Hall. Further testing and an investigation into the status of various machines and servers are ongoing.
  • 01/28/2022, 09:31 a.m. As of 9:30 AM, network connections to file servers (including /home directories and public-facing websites and services) should be restored. Additionally, users should now be able to log into the affected systems. Power has been restored to machines in Keller Hall with the possible exception of some labs machines. We are awaiting an analysis into the root cause of the power outage from Facilities.
  • 02/01/2022, 12:15 p.m. Network connectivity has been restored to a few servers located in Keller Hall over the past few days.
