Linux Desktop and Printing Services

Provides standardized Linux desktop support and management, including support for Linux printing services via CSE-IT print servers.

What's Included

• Support and infrastructure to facilitate Linux use in research and instruction.
• Remote desktop access via FastX
• Ubuntu Linux
• Networked home directories
• Scientific and research software as requested
• Printing via CSE-IT print servers

What's Not Included

• All Linux servers, as well as customized instructional or research use, are supported by other CSE-IT services.
• Other varieties of Linux (Red Hat, etc.).

What You Need to Do

• Request commercial and open source software as needed by emailing help@umn.edu.
• Pay for software licenses, as required.
