Boris Shklovskii Awarded 2019 APS Buckley Prize

FTPI Professor Boris Shklovskii was jointly awarded the 2019 Oliver E. Buckley Condensed Matter Prize with Elihu Abrahams (1927-2018) and Alexei Efros (University of Utah) by the American Physical Society.

The Buckley Prize is awarded yearly and recognizes outstanding theoretical or experimental contributions to condensed matter physics. The citation that appears on their prize certificate is: “For pioneering research in the physics of disordered materials and hopping conductivity.”

The prize was endowed in 1952 by AT&T Bell Laboratories (now Bell Laboratories, Alcatel-Lucent) and is currently co-sponsored with the HTC-VIA Group as a means of recognizing outstanding scientific work. It is named in memory of Oliver E. Buckley, an influential president of Bell Labs.
