Abstract

Successfully transitioning from academic research to impactful industrial roles requires a combination of technical rigor and essential "soft skills" like cross-functional communication. In this talk, I will detail my journey from a researcher to a software engineer, illustrating how various technical challenges demanded both my mathematical foundation and strong communication skills. I will also discuss how my current role as an applications support engineer enables me to translate complex user issues into clear, actionable requests for software teams, to drive product improvement and enhance the user experience.
