Katie Sharpe Wins 2021 Community Fund Drive People's Choice Award

Katie Sharpe, a Student Services Professional within the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE), was selected as a People's Choice Award Winner for her hard work and creative contributions during the 2021 Community Fund Drive.

Every year, the University of Minnesota hosts a Community Fund Drive during the month of October in an effort to raise money for local agencies and charities. Since 1995, the Community Fund Drive has raised $27.9 million for organizations such as Creating Healthier Communities, Greater Twin Cities United Way, Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless, United Negro College Fund, and the University of Minnesota Foundation.

During the 2021 Community Fund Drive, nearly $1.1 million was raised for charitable causes. Fundraising efforts within the ISyE Department were organized by Katie Sharpe and Executive Accounts Specialist and Graduate Program Coordinator Alyssa Benson.

The University of Minnesota's Community Fund Drive organizers traditionally celebrate the hard work, creativity, and dedication of its volunteers by handing out People's Choice Awards. The awards are meant to honor volunteers who show a strong commitment, enthusiasm, and persistence toward the success of the campaign.

"Katie always brings innovative and fun ideas to the [Community Fund Drive] and goes above and beyond to put together activities and decorations," wrote the Community Fund Drive committee. "She's a wonderful CFD ambassador!"

Congratulations Katie!
