Professor Archis Ghate Elected Chair of CIEADH

MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (05/21/2026) — ISyE Department Head Professor Archis Ghate has been elected to serve as the Chair of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers’ (IISE) Council of Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads (CIEADH). This election is a testament to Professor Ghate’s experience as an academic leader and his vision for the future of industrial and systems engineering.

IISE “is dedicated solely to the support of the profession, is an international, nonprofit association that provides leadership for the application, education, training, research, and development of industrial and systems engineering.”

As Chair of CIEADH, Professor Ghate will help support approximately 150 members, who lead industrial and systems engineering departments in the US and internationally. CIEADH’s purpose is “to receive and act on recommendations from members; to sponsor activities and meetings; to discuss industrial engineering education, curriculum, accreditation, student activities, research, faculty development and other appropriate matters and their relation to the technical development of industrial engineers; and to make recommendations resulting from such activities and discussions to IISE.”

After winning this honor via a CIEADH member vote in April 2026, Professor Ghate begins his three-year term with a one-year Chair-elect appointment in May 2026. This will be followed by a one-year term as the Chair, and will then conclude with a year as the past-Chair.

Upon hearing this news, Professor Ghate said, “I am humbled and honored by the trust that academic leaders in industrial and systems engineering have placed in my professional service record and vision for the field.”

Professor Ghate is excited to work with the CIEADH Executive Committee, which includes three members - the Chair-elect, the Chair, and the past-Chair. He intends to work hard to deliver on the vision he presented during the ballot process.
