I'm a current graduate student in the School of Mathematics at UMN, and I would like information about summer teaching possibilities.

Please contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies or the Undergraduate Mathematics Office to indicate your interest and availability to teach during Summer Session. 

I'm currently a graduate student at the University of Minnesota, but not in the School of Mathematics; I'm in another department. Do you offer TAships or RAships to students who are not in your department?

We do not offer TAships or RAships to students outside the School of Mathematics. Our budget does not support it.

What is the chance an applicant who is accepted into the program will be admitted with a Teaching Assistantship?

When we admit applicants applying to the Ph.D. Degree Program in Mathematics, we generally admit them with financial support in the form of…..

Students in M.S. Degree Programs are not offered financial support, except students in the M.S. Degree with Emphasis in Mathematics Education program. 

Do I need to submit a GRE Mathematics Subject score to be considered for an assistantship?

Submitting a GRE Mathematics Subject score is not required, but we strongly recommend it. Without that score, your application might not receive full consideration by our Graduate Studies committee. The Mathematics Subject GRE score is one of the first things the committee examines when reviewing an application. An application without the GRE Math Subject score will be at a disadvantage compared to other applications.

Should I submit a GRE general score to be considered for an assistantship?

We do not base decisions on general GRE scores, but rather use the Mathematics Subject GRE.
