Student Groups and Celebrations
Student Groups
Mathematics undergraduates seeking to network with fellow math students will find opportunities in one (or more!) of the University’s STEM-oriented student groups, some of which are listed on this page. See our math competitions web page if you enjoy solving challenging problems in a competitive environment!
Celebrations
On March 14, 2019 we had a great time celebrating Pi Day!
- Goldy Gopher, students, and math faculty enjoyed slices of pie (thanks, Cub Foods) and photos with Goldy (thanks, GopherSports) in the morning.
- The Math Club held a pie baking contest and enjoyed pizza (as usual) during its meeting at Noon.
- The AMS Student Chapter (Math Graduate Students) held a Pi Day Party in the late afternoon.

Commencement
On May 11, 2021 the College of Science and Engineering hosted an in-person commencement ceremony in the McNamara Alumni Center. Math majors who earned their Bachelor of Science degree through CSE were invited to attend the event either in-person or virtually via Zoom. The in-person celebration was captured on film.
"Your bachelor of science in mathematics is much more than a piece of paper. It is our acknowledgement that you are ready to go out and do great things with the skills you've learned over the last few years with us." -- Ben Brubaker, Professor and Head of the School of Mathematics
