Job Commitments
Commitments and Requirements for ME TAs
Applying for a TA position does not necessarily guarantee financial support.
However, if assigned a teaching assistantship position in ME, students must acknowledge that the job comes with the following requirements and commitments:
- You are available to begin work on the appointment start date and continue until the end of the appointment - not just exams - to ensure grading is completed.
- Once this job offer is accepted, written permission from the appointment’s course instructor is required in order to decline this position at a later date.
- Prior to the start of classes for the semester you will:
Attend the mandatory TA workshop.
Enroll in the CEI course GRAD 5105 or retake the SETTA to earn an ELP of 1. This applies only to non-native speakers of English with an English Language Proficiency (ELP) other than 1. See University Policy regarding ELP Requirements for further information.
- Prior to the last day of classes for the semester you will:
Complete and report on one TA professional development activity.
Complete and report a peer observation.
Be evaluated by the students of your course via the Google Form found at z.umn.edu/me-ta-evals
