Aerosol Research at the Center of Answering Questions About COVID-19 on Surfaces

ME Associate Professor Jiarong Hong has been seeking to answer questions about how COVID-19 droplets survive on surfaces, finding that droplets do not disappear upon evaporation. Hong's study used both a nebulizer and human-exhaled gas to form droplets on glass, steel, plastic, and copper surfaces, then examined what happened after the droplets evaporate.
