Congratulations to our 2026 Travel Award Winners!

Congratulations to two graduate students on being selected for departmental travel awards!

Anup Vaman Barve has been awarded the Adrian ME Graduate Student Travel Award. The Adrian ME Graduate Student Travel Award provides support to gain experience doing research at another institution or to present your research at a conference. Anup plans to present his research at the 2026 American Meteorological Society (AMS) Annual Meeting in Houston, Texas, where he will be giving two presentations focused on understanding marine atmospheric processes using large-eddy simulation (LES).

Jenn Hoody has been awarded the Joachim and Yuko Heberlein Travel Grant Award. Jenn will be using this award to travel to Kenya to conduct research. This award was created by Professor Joachim Heberlein and his wife Yuko Heberlein. Since the Heberleins are most grateful for all the assistance and opportunities they received, helping the next generation by giving them opportunities to travel to different parts of the world is something they love to do. With this idea, Yuko announced the establishment of Joachim and Yuko Heberlein Scholarship Fund at Joachim’s retirement in March of 2013.

Congratulations, Jenn and Anup!
