Jennifer Alexander Elected Vice President and President-Elect of the Society for the History of Technology

Professor Jennifer Alexander has been elected vice president and president-elect of the Society for the History of Technology (SHOT). This prestigious appointment recognizes her contributions to the field and her leadership within the scholarly community.

SHOT is the leading professional society dedicated to the historical study of technology and its interactions with politics, economics, labor, business, the environment, public policy, science, and the arts. Founded in 1958, the society has grown to a membership of approximately 1,500 scholars and practitioners worldwide.

Alexander, a historian of technology and engineering, has focused her research on the intersections of technological change, labor, and industrial culture. Her work explores how engineering and technological advancements shape societies and institutions over time. In her new leadership role, she will help guide SHOT’s initiatives, fostering research and engagement in this critical field.
