Marien Simeni Named 2026 National Academy of Sciences Frontiers of Science Fellow

Marien Simeni, Richard and Barbara Nelson Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, has been selected as a 2026 Frontiers of Science Fellow by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS).

The NAS Frontiers of Science program brings together outstanding early-career researchers from across the United States to discuss emerging advances at the frontiers of scientific research. Participants are selected for their exceptional research achievements and potential to advance science within and beyond their disciplines.

Simeni recently attended the Frontiers of Science meeting, where he joined researchers from a broad range of fields for interdisciplinary discussions designed to spark new collaborations and ideas. The program emphasizes cross-disciplinary exchange, encouraging scientists to communicate their work to peers outside their immediate areas of expertise.

Established by the National Academy of Sciences, the Frontiers of Science symposium highlights innovative research and fosters connections among the next generation of scientific leaders.

Simeni’s selection reflects national recognition of his research contributions and growing impact in mechanical engineering.
