ME Graduate Student Wins Student Award for Excellence at the 2024 Gaseous Electronics Conference

Jae Hyun Nam, an ME student advised by Professor Peter Bruggeman, won the Student Award for Excellence at the 2024 Gaseous Electronics Conference (GEC)!

"We presented the development of a novel operando (in situ) plasma TEM device and demonstrated its capability by showing in situ plasma-iron oxide interaction (reduction) at the nanometer scale for the first time and identified the rate-limiting process," said Nam. "We hope this study will help in understanding the mechanism of iron ore reduction by hydrogen plasma, and that our developed method will contribute a lot to the plasma community."

Nam's research is a part of the Plasma Science and Engineering Group.
