ME Student Ashton Beers Named Academic All-American

Mechanical Engineering student Ashton Beers has been named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), a prestigious honor recognizing outstanding achievements both in the classroom and on the football field. Beers, a redshirt sophomore and offensive lineman for the Gopher Football team, was named to the second team, joining an elite group of student-athletes.
Beers has excelled in his dual pursuit of engineering and athletics. On the field, he played in all 13 games for the Gophers in 2024, starting nine on the offensive line. He helped block for an offense that averaged 26.15 points per game and contributed to the team’s 8-5 overall record, including a bowl game victory over Virginia Tech.
Off the field, Beers is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, embodying the balance of excellence that defines UMN Mechanical Engineering students. His recognition as an Academic All-American places him among the nation’s top student-athletes, further reinforcing the strong academic foundation within the department.
Beers is the 10th CSC Academic All-American in team history and the seventh to earn the honor under head coach P.J. Fleck. He joins a distinguished group of previous honorees, further cementing the Gophers' tradition of academic excellence in athletics.
