NSF ATP-Bio Receives ASME Edward Grood Medal

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is thrilled to announce that NSF ATP-Bio has been awarded the prestigious ASME Edward Grood Interdisciplinary Team Science Medal in Bioengineering for 2025. This award recognizes exceptional achievements in collaborative research that advances bioengineering innovation.
Under the leadership of John Bischof, Distinguished McKnight University Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and NSF ATP-Bio Center Director, NSF ATP-Bio is pioneering biopreservation technologies that are transforming organ and tissue preservation. Additionally, we recognize Mehmet Toner, NSF ATP-Bio's Center Deputy Director at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), whose contributions have been instrumental to the center’s groundbreaking work.
This recognition highlights the critical role of engineering solutions in addressing some of medicine's most pressing challenges and underscores the impact of interdisciplinary research in transforming healthcare.
