Nugent Family Faculty Teaching Award Winners: Julianna Abel and Natasha Wright
ME faculty members Julianna Abel and Natasha Wright are this year's awardees for the Nugent Family Faculty Teaching award. The award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate an exceptional interest in and commitment to teaching undergraduate students.
Award recipients are selected based on student ratings of teaching and comments from undergraduate courses as well as a personal statement addressing their contributions to undergraduate education.
Professor Abel is recognized for outstanding instruction and curriculum design, especially for ME 3222 (Mechanisms and Machine Design). She is well known for exceptionally clear lectures, colorful course notes, and an engaging lecture style.
Professor Wright is recognized for her outstanding contributions to senior design and ME 5312 (Solar thermal energy). Students commented on her constructive feedback, creative approach to problem solving, and ability to provide real context for course materials, and they liked her exams!

The Nugent Family Faculty Teaching Award was created in recognition of Dale Nugent's long-standing relationship with the University of Minnesota and his gratitude for the education he received. The Fund is designed to provide support to outstanding faculty at UMN ME.
