Professor Fiona Burnell has been appointed as the inaugural holder of the Tang Family Professorship.  Professor Burnell is a condensed matter theorist specializing in topological phases of matter, quantum many-body dynamics, and quantum information theory.  She has been a member of the School faculty since 2013 and was recently promoted to Professor.
The Tang Family Professorship recognizes the career of Professor Yau-Chien (Ed) Tang, a nuclear theorist who was a member of the School Faculty from 1964 - 1997.  His son and daughter received their undergraduate degrees from the School.
