Teachers: Get your students excited about STEM!

School groups of 6-8th graders are invited to join us for the annual College of Science and Engineering (CSE) Expo. This open-house-style event features more than 25 hands-on projects, demonstrations, and shows representing CSE student groups’ work in areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. The CSE Expo is free to attend and the College of Science and Engineering is able to reimburse each school for the round trip transportation of two buses at a maximum of $250 per bus.

3D Printing and Jello Organs
“Cellurize” and eat Jello organs to understand how current transplant alternatives are being performed in medical research. Explore 3D bioprinting through a live printed heart.

Build a Bio-Filter!
Build your own water filter using common, natural materials.

Flight Simulators
Learn the fundamentals of aerodynamics by playing with a flight simulator, observing the model airplane in a wind tunnel, and by making your own glider.

GOFIRST Robot
GOFIRST Robotics designed, tested, and built a robot for the 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition Stronghold all in three days. See how they did it!

Ohm G, watt? My body is a circuit?
This interactive project demonstrates how the body can make and do cool things by completing a circuit.

Plastimake
Learn about what makes plastics reusable. Mold this plastimake into whatever you’d like while it’s warm. Cool it and it’ll keep for years!

Popsicle Stick Fireworks
Watch popsicle sticks demonstrate the concept of energy transformations. Arrange popsicle sticks in a way that when triggered, they burst like fireworks!

Rainbow Soap
Make goo that’s fun to play with but doubles as soap!

Re-Train Your Brain
Participate in a variety of activities that teach you about different functionalities of the brain.

Speed By Design
Speed By Design will present their 2016 open-wheeled race car. It is a gas-powered autocross racer that can go from 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds!
