For 23 years Rao was VP of financing and business development for a venture financing and development fund. As VP, he financed businesses and ventures using venture capital, leases, debt and subordinated debt; and bought five companies to turn around. They succeeded on four.
Since leaving the financing world, he has been consulting, writing, teaching, and hopefully thinking. He has also interviewed extremely successful entrepreneurs such as Glen Taylor and Bob Kierlin. Currently Rao is writing books about how to build giant businesses without capital.
