Dr. Tariq Samad Named to Process Automation Hall of Fame

TLI’s Director of Graduate Studies Tariq Samad has been named to the 2023 class of the Process Automation Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed each year by the editors of Control magazine. Control is the industry magazine that follows the process automation beat.

It’s a well-deserved honor for Dr. Samad, who spent three decades at Honeywell, where he contributed to and led automation and control technology developments for applications in electric power systems, clean energy, building management, the process industries, automotive engines, unmanned aircraft and advanced manufacturing. He retired from Honeywell as Corporate Fellow, the highest rung in the technical ladder.

He also (literally) wrote the book on control – the Encyclopedia of Systems and Control (J. Baillieul and T. Samad, editors in chief, Springer, 2014; 2nd edition, 2021). He’s published over one hundred papers, holds 20 patents, and has won several other awards. He has been active in the control systems professional community as well, serving as president of the American Automatic Control Council and IEEE Control Systems Society.

Dr. Samad holds the Honeywell/W.R. Sweatt Chair and has been with TLI since 2016.
