Student Spotlight: Logan Strom - Recipient of TLI Scholars Initiative 2022

This week's spotlight shines on Logan Strom! Logan is one of the first recipients of the TLI Scholars Initiative, a scholarship program that TLI just launched this year.  Logan will start TLI's MS in Medical Device Innovation program in the fall. He earned his BS in Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2014. Congratulations, Logan, and welcome to TLI!

Fun facts about Logan:

  • Logan lives in South Minneapolis with his St. Bernard
  • He enjoys motorcycling, kayaking, and working on cars
  • Logan travels internationally as often as possible (he just returned from a trip to Turkey!)

Check out the interview below and find out what attracted Logan the most about the MDI program and his excitement about the practicum at Bakken Medical Devices Center.

- Tell us a little bit about your background

I earned my BS in Psychology from the U of MN in 2014, and until recently had spent the entire time as a Medical Device Rep for Olympus, mainly selling videoscopes and microscopes into hospitals.

- What attracted you to the MDI program?

I love the medical device industry, but after nearly 8 years in sales I was looking to explore other options. I attended one of the virtual information sessions, and it sounded like the perfect fit to build on my experience and better understand what is involved in bringing new devices to market.

How do you think the scholarship will help you to achieve your goals?

The scholarship will absolutely help me to devote more time to the program and get as much as possible out of it. As someone who will continue working in the industry throughout the MDI program, this generous gift will enable me to maintain the balance between my professional life and education.

What are you looking forward to the most in this program?

The part of the program I’m most looking forward to is the practicum component at the Bakken Medical Devices Center! I’m also very excited to meet my cohort and learn from each other’s industry experience.

Thank you, Logan, for sharing your story with us, and good luck on your new career journey!
