Technological Leadership Institute

The Technological Leadership Institute (TLI) is an interdisciplinary center at the University of Minnesota that has been turning technology professionals into business leaders within their respective industries for more than three decades.

Our graduate degrees and minors are specifically designed for working professionals in technology-intensive enterprises. Our interdisciplinary faculty are renowned industry leaders with demonstrated excellence in teaching, mentorship and consulting. Many are currently working and immersed in their fields of expertise, bringing their knowledge directly from the workplace to the classroom. TLI is supported by staff who consist of experienced professionals committed to carrying out the mission of the Institute.

We offer three Master of Science degrees specifically designed for professionals working in technology-intensive enterprises:

Master of Science in Management of Technology (MOT)
Go beyond the business foundation of an MBA, and receive unique technology-specific management and leadership education through the M.S. in Management of Technology degree program.

Master of Science in Medical Device Innovation (MDI)
The M.S in Medical Device Innovation degree program is designed to prepare students to anticipate, navigate and manage complex innovation challenges in the global medical technology industry.

Master of Science in Security Technologies (MSST)
The M.S. in Security Technologies degree program is designed to shape tomorrow's analytical and risk-management policymakers and innovators in just 16 months.

In addition, we offer continuing education opportunities for tech-based organizations through consulting and customized short courses, and exclusive opportunities for undergraduate UMN students in science and engineering programs to jumpstart their careers and to distinguish themselves as aspiring and innovative tech leaders.
